gemstones???
i have to do an essay for science about rocks. i have to write as though i am the rock. i have to describe what happens to 'me' as i go through the processes that change me from one type of rock to another. i want to be either a peridot, amethyst, opal, or iolite.
heres my problem: i've already researched some websites on these gemstones and can't find any that describe how they started out. (if it starts out as magma on the surface, near it, or beneath it, if it cools fast or slow, etc.) i also don't know what i should name 'myself'.

Peridot is formed in magma beneath the earth's crust and is carried to the earth's crust already formed in the magma.
