Is there a way to tell if my opals are real?
I have 2 opal bracelets, they are from a department store, so i know they aren't good quality but i was wondering if there was a way to tell if they are real. One is regular opal and one is pink opal which was mistakenly labeled as fire opal. They have the rainbow colors in them but there is so much of it that it makes me think they are fake.
The bracelet is made out of silver and it has a tiny diamond in each bracelet, i don't know if that means anything.
There is lots of info on this webpage about synthetic opals and imitations.
It could be synthetic, which means it is "real opal," just man made and that's why it's cheaper. Or they could be real as well.
It's hard to give you advice without at least a picture. But you can compare the opals you have to the opals on this website.
