Ring turning finger green?
I got my girlfriend a sterling ring (yes, imprinted with 925) with an opal triplet, but there was an imperfection in the band and it cracked cleanly, we got it repaired. They said it was welded with silver and looked good as new but it is turning her finger green where it was repaired. Does this mean that we were screwed over (which would surprise me because we know the jeweler) or that the newly added silver is just more readily oxidized?
The only thing that will turn your finger green is bronze. Sounds like the ring is silver plated, not real silver.
