In Twilight, why didn't Edward's eyes turn red after he sucked the venom out of Bella's hand?

It's a given in the Twilight series that the Cullens have topaz eyes because they are "vegetarians", only drinking animal blood. The other, normal vampires have red eyes because they drink human blood.

Soooo, why didn't Edward's eyes turn red at the end of the Twilight movie after he sucked the venom out of Bella's hand, when James had bitten her?

it never said anything about that in the book either.

my guess would be that its because he didn't suck all of her blood out. human blood makes their eyes red but they probably would have to drink like a whole human body full of blood, whereas edward sucked out enough to save her only, and with his great self-control he saved her[:

and to the person above me ^^ if you've read the book you'll know why edward sucked the venom out instead of carlisle. it's complicated.
that's why i recomend the book to anyone who has seen the movie.

there are tons of questions that the movie didn't answer.
like
why didn't carlisle suck out the blood?
didn't anyone notice the shape of edward's hands on the truck?
whatever happened to Laurent?

the book is wonderful(: i love the book.
