Fog on my ring?
I have a 1k yellow topaz ring that is about 6-7 years old. I don't wear it often but keep it clean. Today I dropped it in to some soapy hot water and scrubbed it with a baby toothbrush. I clean all my jewlery this way and have never had a problem. When I pulled the ring out and dried it off, a thick fog showed up on the top of the ring. I tried rubbing on it and letting it sit, but it wont go away. It's like there is glue on my ring, but it wont come off. It's on the actual gem stone by the way.
This has never happened before!

I have an aquamarine ring that did the same thing - have you worn the ring while using any abrasive cleaning agents? Those could react with the soap you used to clean it to cause a fog - that is what happened to mine. You can take it to a jeweler and have it professionally cleaned, or have the stone polished where it is foggy - that will cure the problem. Or, if you use candles or any product that might have wax or a waxy fat in it, this could cause a fog that wouldn't come off with just soapy water and a scrub.
