Taghairm - an ancient Scottish mode of divination, possibly including animal sacrifice.
Synecdoche - a figure of speech in which a part is used for the whole (as hand for sailor), the whole for a part (as the law for police officer), the specific for the general (as cutthroat for assassin), the general for the specific (as thief for pickpocket), or the material for the thing made from it (as steel for sword).
Zircon - a mineral which is heated, cut, and polished to form a brilliant blue-white semi-precious gem.
Zeugma - a sentence in which a verb is used to cover two nouns although only strictly appropriate to one, for example: "Mr. Pickwick took his coat and his leave" (Dickens) or "She came in tears and a taxi."

Oddly, a film called "Synecdoche" came out recently and i recently considered using the notion in a paper i was writing about rhetoric, and i´ve mentioned zircons a lot in arguments on R&S about evolution and creationism.
